High-pressure water jetting starts with a video camera inspection to find out what’s blocking your pipe. If there are large tree roots, they’ll need to be removed before hydro jetting. If the pipe has collapsed, it can’t be cleaned and will need to be replaced. The condition of the pipe determines the amount of pressure and which nozzles are used during hydro jetting. Our plumbers will access the clogged pipe via a cleanout, a section of pipe with a removable cap. They will insert the hose, which is connected to a tank of water and the machine that creates the pressure. The clogged pipe gets hydro jetted, and when the self-propelled hydro jetting nozzle encounters an obstruction, it shoots highly pressurized water at it until it breaks up. The debris is then flushed away. Specific nozzles are used depending on what needs to be cut through, such as tree roots, grease, hair, debris, soil sediment, or something else. If large tree roots obstruct the pipe, the technician may use a plumbing snake to cut through them first, prior to hydro jetting. After thoroughly cleaning your pipe, we will do a final video inspection to see the pipe’s condition after cleaning. Cracks that weren’t visible before might be visible after cleaning. Cracked pipes need to be repaired.
